“Working with my hands is really important to me, says silversmith Cecilia Robinson. The mind/body connection allows one to focus on what you are doing and the difficulties of life just fade away. It is wonderful to be able to make something tangible that lasts, something you have created that someone else will enjoy wearing. The ultimate reward for me is to see friends and family around me wearing my jewellery. It inspires me to get back to my bench and design something new”.

“Passionate about life, passionate about nature and anchored in a Higher Power” that is how local artist Lidi Gelderblom describes herself. “I was trained in Graphic art but a love of colour and the need to experiment in different media make for a varied body of work. My main focus lately has been painting in oil or acrylics, pen and ink and often a combination of both – and what better place than Darling with the beautiful surroundings to provide the perfect inspiration”

Fake Kitten Studio is the passion project of Marna Gelderblom from Cape Town. Marna’s curiosity about metalsmithing inspired her to start making and learning with the help of books, online tutorials and her friend/mentor Cecilia Robinson. Her work is fresh and experimental, with a whimsical touch.

After a very successful joint exhibition recently, Cecilia and Lidi will showcase their latest work during the weekend of 19 and 20 Nov, also joined by Marna Gelderblom, Lorinda Esterhuizen (Instagram @lorinestarts and @leatheraddict_18) and Nina Gelderblom.

With the other artists taking part we look forward to a special event with a wide variety of work on offer. Come and share in this unique opportunity!
