Escape, Relax, and Unwind in our Oasis!
The Darling Lodge Guest House offers 9 rooms in a harmonious blend of old and new reflecting the romantic name of the little town. The main house, the Victorian charm of which has remained intact, offers 3 individually decorated country style rooms. The more modern garden annex consists of 3 further generously appointed rooms with a grapevine covered patio which overlooks the sparkling swimming pool. All rooms come with private en-suite bathroom/toilet with shower and/or bathtub, electric blankets, and fans for a pleasant stay during all seasons.
The design of the 3 suites (built in 2020) is inspired by traditional open-plan green houses. They all offer privacy and come with a veranda, a spacious lounge area, a fridge, a Nespresso machine, ceiling fan, and twin beds (standing next to each other) en-suite shower/toilet.
Generous breakfasts are served in the breakfast room or weather permitting on the terrace. The lush garden with its ancient pepper and palm trees, fountain spraying water over blooming roses, bougainvillea, mass of lavender with its heady fragrance invites guests to relax and unwind. The pool area with sun loungers and open-air lounge is the perfect spot to observe the local bird life or simply read a book. The cosy guest lounge with library invites to read, watch Netflix, or enjoy a glass of wine by the fireplace. Most of the guest rooms are dedicated to a local artist, whose work is on display and can be purchased. It is our pleasure to arrange a visit at the artist’s workshop by request.
Load shedding is a rather small issue since high speed Wi-Fi (in & outdoors), the 3 suites and some of the standard rooms are powered by solar energy. A limited number of off-street parking bays is available, though parking in front of the main house is safe. Mountain bikes can be locked up in the garage.
Our philosophy is to offer exquisite comfort and personal service that allows our guests to escape, relax, and unwind. We therefore do not accommodate children under the age of 12 years. Our resident cats “Nala” and “Leopold” dislike any other pets visiting. We do not offer Braai facilities due to security reasons.
