Darling Olives

The Basson family takes great pride in welcoming you to Darling Olives, a family-run business located on Alexanderfontein Estate just 3km outside of Darling. The estate is nestled amidst vineyards, grazing cattle and olive groves. Our location offers the perfect balance of cool, refreshing air from the Atlantic and hot, dry summers – resulting in delicious olives and three exclusive wines, that you simply have to experience.

It was an olive twig that the dove brought back to Noah, after the flood. An olive branch will always be a symbol of wisdom and peace and right through history olives nourished the body and olive oil was used in diets, as a cleanser, as medicine, for lighting and about a 1001 other uses.

It all started with experimenting with 20kg of olives. Through many trials and errors, we learned through experience and slowly built the business to include not only olives, but also olive jams, pastes, rubs, chocolate, extra virgin olive oil, flavoured olive oils and even olive soaps.

Today we have a fully FSA audited factory processing about 100 tons of table olives, all from our own farm, as well as producing our own olive oils.

At Darling Olives, we not only produce great-tasting olives but also offer an interactive tasting experience, so you can discover our range of delicious products right here on the farm.

The historic milk shed has been transformed onto tasting rooms that can accommodate small groups (10-12 people) and large groups (up to 60 people), either around our main table or in the tasting hall.

Experience a traditional approach to olives on a working farm where cattle are still herded by horse and a flock of sheep may cross your path. Darling Olives is a great way to start your education about how olives are grown, pressed, and cured.

So, how about an olive, darling?
