Festivities kick off with the Darling Food Experience – a Friday night to remember! And then, bid on your favourite scarecrow on auction at the street party.

Fitness fundis can participate in the Groote Post Country Run on the Sunday morning and enjoy gourmet food and crafts at the Groote Post Country Market afterwards.

Visitors will notice a large number of scarecrows dotted around the village the entire weekend. You can identify them by participating in the Scarecrow Route. Visitors are challenged to identify these creations on a scorecard and stand the chance of winning a prize. Entry tickets, including a route map, will be sold from outlets around the village, All money collected will be given to local Darling charities. Entries must be handed in at one of the outlets by midday on Sunday to qualify for the draw. We invite all surrounding farms and communities, businesses and locals to participate in the Scarecrow Route by making and entering a scarecrow to be displayed in Darling.

The Darling Scarecrow Festival is a celebration of all that’s best and brightest about harvest time in the Swartland. Scarecrows dotted around the village, a street party, farmers & country markets, street music, storytelling, flowers on the stoep, the scarecrow competition….
